South Africa’s hottest tech deals and sales of the week (6-10 May)

Shopping for technology is an even bigger nightmare than clothes. But unlike clothing, finding the correct stick of RAM isn’t a question of it being too big or small, but just too damn expensive.

In a weekly series, Gearburn trawls the South African online shopping space to find the best deals, from DDR4 for your rig to cans for your ears.

The A9 features a 6.3 inch display, 128GB of internal storage, four rear cameras, 6GB of RAM, and a 3800mAh battery. It has a single SIM card slot, but support for a microSD card.

Logitech G433 gaming headphones – R899 (Takealot)

These gaming headphones feature 7.1 surround sound support, a removable 3.5mm cable, a removable mic, and two audio cables for mobile phone and PC use. It also features a frequency response of 20Hz to 20KHz and a weight of 259 grams. It’s available in black, blue and red.

PlayStation 4 DualShock 4 controller version 2 – R899 (Takealot)

This is the second version of Sony’s PlayStation 4 DualShock 4 controller, in Wave Blue.

Crucial BX500 SSD – R659 (Loot)

This SSD features a capacity of 240GB, a write speed of 500MB/s and a read speed of 540MB/s. It has a mean lifespan of 1.5-million hours.

Kwese Play Roku media player – R799 (Loot)

This media player is a customised Roku streaming box with streaming service support that includes Netflix, YouTube, Kwese, and Red Bull TV. The box supports 1080p output as well as 5GHz WiFi.

Sennheiser HD4.50 Bluetooth headphones – R2399 (Dion Wired)

These cans feature an overear design with active noise cancellation, a 24 hour battery life, and support for the AptX audio codec. It also features a frequency response of 18Hz to 22kHz, a microphone frequency response of 100Hz to 10kHz, and a 3.5mm jack input for analog listening.

SanDisk SDSDQM-032G-B35A 32GB microSD card – R79 (FirstShop)

This memory card features a Class 4 rating, a capacity of 32GB, and a five-year warranty.

Romoss Sense 10 powerbank – R199 (FirstShop)

This powerbank features a capacity of 10 000mAh, a scratch-resistant finish, a self-charging time of 6.5 hours, and two outputs at 5V 1A and 5V 2.1A respectively.
